Love this interactive slideshow detailing 20 ways to eat better and feel great. Yes, these tips are all consistent with being more healthy (and are aligned with the Modmarket menu), but we love that there is a focus on eating to simply feel better. In our opinion, there is not enough emphasis on how eating properly just makes you feel well all the time. Food is fuel, plain and simple. Our bodies are engines that need fuel to run, and its performance is determined by what type of fuel we put in. As avid athletes in several outdoor sports, we’ve striven to make sure the Modmarket menu is the perfect fuel for our bodies. From whole ingredients as toppings to our high protein whole wheat dough, whatever you choose on our menu will make you feel better until your next meal. Shouldn’t all food sustain you that way, even that which you get on the go?

Gluten Free Pizza – aka The Pavelka
Modmarket Catering in Denver and Boulder — 8/10/2009
When we were dreaming up modmarket, high on our list of ‘nice to have’ features was a gluten free flatbread option. I meet new people every week who either a) have Celiac disease b) think they have Celiac disease or c) pretend to have Celiac disease even though they have never been tested. No matter what your reasoning, if you want to enjoy flatbread (or pizza), there really are not a lot of options out there, and the ones I have had are not exactly what I would call ‘tasty’. In addition, one of my best friends, cycling superstud Eric Pavelka, is an option a) person. He cannot eat wheat (more…)
You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

We often get into ‘discussions’ with people regarding food and the practices used in raising/growing said food. People that supply meat are the worst. Most of the people we have encountered (there are exceptions and those are the people we end up working with) have no clue about where the food they sell comes from and also do not understand the problems that result from many of the practices used in raising the products they sell. Below is a conversation I had the other day:
Me: Do you sell any grass fed or grass finished beef?
Happy Chickens = Tastier Eggs
Modmarket Catering in Denver and Boulder — 8/8/2009
I have been buying cage free eggs for years. I have always thought they tasted better and liked both the color and consistency of the yolks. Today though, I found something even better. Pasture raised eggs. The hens that lay these eggs roam around in fields and eat worms. This is what hens were designed to do and you can REALLY taste and see the difference. (more…)
Whole Foods Finally ‘Getting It’
Modmarket Catering in Denver and Boulder — 8/5/2009
First off, I will admit it, I love Whole Foods. Despite the fact that you can spend $50.00 on a single bag of groceries there without evening thinking, I find the quality, the selection and the experience to be quite delightful. I have noticed though, that the brand has always had a heavy focus on food as an indulgence rather than as healthy sustenance. Turns out, the people running Whole Foods are starting to realize that too. Check out this article from the WSJ (more…)
