Mediterranean Diet

We find it interesting that more and more press and attention is being paid to how healthy a “mediterranean diet” can be.  Why are people surprised by this?  Having a lot of vegetables with a moderate amount of proteins (and even some nice wine) is shockingly good for you? We also love that we set out to create a modern menu that tastes great, is sustainable, and consists of fresh real food and basically came up with the mediterranean diet menu that has been around for centuries.  Definitely shows that humans had it right the first time and maybe modmarket should be called pastmarket.  Check out this recent ABC News article on WHY the med (and mod) diets are so healthy.

As the authors note, that the analysis “indicates that the dominant components of the Mediterranean diet score as a predictor of lower mortality are moderate consumption of [alcohol], low consumption of meat and meat products, and a high consumption of vegetables, fruits and nuts, olive oil, and legumes.”
