Anthony and I often comment that an unexpected result of Modmarket’s success has been the incredible amount of solicitation we now receive on a daily basis. The amount of requests to meet with various groups, advertisers, brokers, donation-seekers, food companies, etc continues to surprise us. We quickly found that all productivity would stop if we had a meeting with every person, but because being a part of the community is so much a part of what Modmarket is, we learned to be a little more selective. So when we were approached last year by a couple of ambitious CU undergrads who were members of the Student Health Board we immediately wanted to hear what they had to say.
We found that the mission of the Student Health Board is simple and very much aligned with Modmarket- to educate their peers on living well and monitor their progress. While we were not able to work together before the end of the school year, they reached out again to us with a great idea- to offer basic cooking classes to interested students. We worked together on the best way to implement the idea, and two nights ago had our first class, which was a huge success. Our culinary school grad and catering manager Jess was the professor and among other things showed the interested students the basics on making dressings. We are conducting a few more classes for just students in conjunction with the Student Health Board, and Jess has several great ideas on what to show them. The response has been so good that we’re thinking of offering similar type classes for the general public at both Modmarkets. Once you’ve got the basics down, cooking healthy and tasty simple foods is really easy. We do it everyday in each Modmarket and think it would be great to offer some tips to our customers too!

My husband and I would be very interested in attending one of your cooking school classes, if and when you do open it up to the public! Thanks for all you do!
